BRISTOL, Tenn. - DEI president of Global Operations Max Siegel expects dialogue to progress on Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s contract but his current concern is the well being of Kelley Earnhardt Elledge, who underwent surgery on Friday to remove a tumor from her pancreas.
Earnhardt Elledge is Junior's sister and the GM of JR Motorsports. She's also his key business advisor and has been actively involved in re-negotiating Junior's contract, which runs through the end of 2007.
"Every day we're checking in with her and making sure the first priority is her getting healthy," Siegel said. "As soon as they're ready to resume any kind of discussions, we're ready."
