Idols Reunion

Here's a pretty cool picture i found. We can see all past winners of American Idol with the exception of Fantasia Barrino who must had been really busy to not attend, this was last Wednesday, May 23rd on the finale show of American Idol. Well, the Idols performed a tribute to The Beatles. The amazing Kelly Clarkson started with a very rockish intro. Next, Taylor Hicks came to the stage and slow it down, what's up with his career? I haven't read any news about him. Next, was the turn for beautiful Carrie Underwood who did flawless. Then, Ruben Studdard appeared, he did pretty good. I really liked his latest album, cool to see him perform again. Finally, the top 12 went onstage and sang with the idols to finish it. CLICK HERE to watch this performance on youtube. Enjoy

Worldwide phenomenon Shakira broke a record this last Sunday in Mexico DF, the capital of Mexico, where she performed at "La Plaza De Zocalo" in front of 210 000 people for a free concert which was part of her "Fijacion Oral" tour. Many Shakira's fans camped at the Plaza since saturday to assure them good places for the concert. Until now the record was for the mexican group Cafe Tacuba who in a similar event gathered 170 000 people at "El Zocalo" in 2005. Wow i'm happy for all the success Shakira is getting! F-35 Helmet Display System To Scare the Bejeezus Out of Enemies

This is the new helmet-mounted display system for the F-35 Lighting II Joint Strike Fighter. The helmet is designed to provide pilots with binocular-wide field-of-view, give night vision abilities and scare enemy pilots at first sight.

It was used for the first time last April, making the F-35 the first combat plane without a cockpit-mounted heads-up display in a very long time.

Spider-Man 3: Pirated Chinese Edition

Most of you will have seen Spider-Man 3 by now. While, as of this writing, it is still playing in theatres, the pirated DVD is being sold in the markets, subway stations, and pirate DVD stores of Beijing. No surprises there.

You probably remember those famous Star Wars: Episode III subtitles ("Do Not Want" - I failed to find the original link). With those in mind I thought I'd grab Spider-Man 3 and see if terrible closed-captioning was a DVD standard feature here.

Arnold Schwarzenegger will appear in "Terminator 4"

As reported last week, the "Terminator" franchise is about to experience a reboot after a company, Halcyon, purchased the film rights. It was said that none of the actors, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, would come back.

That might not be the case anymore. First off, Schwarzenegger is rumored to have signed on as the executive producer of the Halcyon "Terminator" films, reports MovieHole.

He's also, according to the "Post Chronicle," given Halcyon the rights to use his likeness in the films.

Delorean finally gets the engine it should have had all along

Delorean finally gets the engine it should have had all along

In the late sixties and early seventies, many car companies were enamored with the power density of Wankel rotary engines, including NSU, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz and General Motors.

GM ultimately built at least two mid-engine "Corvette" concepts with Wankels, one with two rotors and the other with four. The four-rotor was eventually replaced by a small block to become the Aerovette. When John Z. Delorean left to create his own car, he envisioned it propelled by a rotary engine as well.

As was the case with every other carmaker save Mazda, the Wankel was ultimately abandoned in favor of a piston engine. But one Delorean owner didn't forget the original vision.

Wish for a bike that can fit in your trunk?

I came across bike after bike that could easily fit in the trunk of my small car.

I don't know if it's the Dr. Seuss appearance, its ability to fold up into a circle or its bright colors that call to me and say "Give me a try!"

Polyethylene Bulletproof Vests Better Than Kevlar

Posted by ScuttleMonkey on Wednesday May 23, @02:27PM
from the hard-wear dept.
teflonscout writes "When I think of bulletproof vests, the first word that comes to mind is Kevlar. Wired is running a story on Dynema SB61, a bulletproof material that is made of polyethylene. It is a higher grade of the plastic found in Tupperware. The story also mentions the recall of Second Chance bulletproof vests that were made from Zylon, a material that degraded slowly when exposed to moisture. At least one police officer was injured when a bullet penetrated his Zylon vest. Polyethylene is impervious to moisture. The first vests made from this new material are 5mm thick and can stop a 9mm bullet traveling at 1777 feet per second, which is slightly better than other top of the line vests."

    Harvick wins All-Star Challenge

    Associated Press
    Posted: 21 minutes ago

CONCORD, N.C. (AP) - Kevin Harvick cashed in for the second time this season, holding off Jimmie Johnson to pick up a $1 million payday Saturday night in the Nextel All-Star Challenge.

Harvick, who opened the year with a Daytona 500 victory, has earned $2.5 million from his two wins this season. Johnson, a two-time winner of the All-Star race, stayed in line behind Harvick for the final 18 laps of the race. Johnson made one attempt at a pass, looking briefly to the outside of Harvick's car.

But Harvick held him off, pulled firmly out front and motored to the finish line for his first All-Star victory in seven tries at Lowe's Motor Speedway. He was second to Johnson last season, and gave car owner Richard Childress his first win in the non-points event since Dale Earnhardt in 1993.

"You are the man," Childress radioed

    Best Family Vacation Spots:

    1) Best Family Vacation Spots: Paris With Kids

    family vacation spots: Paris

Ah, the City of Light: not to mention famous (free for kids) museums; the Eiffel Tower, my kids' top attraction ever; the river Seine with its wide walkways so perfect for strollers; and heavenly patisseries. More Europe destinations are found below. We also loved our week of London Sightseeing.

    2) Walt Disney World
best family vacation spots: Walt Disney World
Orlando, Florida was merely a swampy spot and a gleam in Walt Disney's eye in 1966, but is now the planet's most powerful magnet for families. Many attractions have joined Walt Disney World, but it's still the colossus, with four huge theme parks and an area the size of Boston, and probably ranks as "best family vacation spot" for millions.
    3) Family Adventure in Yellowstone National Park
personal best family vacation spots: Yellowstone"Family Adventures" are all-inclusive escorted tours in a great outdoors area, with "multisports" like hiking, rafting, and horse-riding. Yellowstone was far better than I'd dreamed-- as was the "family adventure" concept. Think: no hassles, check-in line-ups, or "where'll we eat?" Think: a small group of fellow travelers who turn out to be great company, and guides who go all out to make your trip wonderful.
    4) Franklyn D. Resort, Jamaica
great family vacation spots: all-inclusive FDR resortThe phrase "all-inclusive family resort" is common in the Caribbean, but only FDR and its sister resort include a "vacation nanny" throughout your stay. Fun includes biking, water-sliding, scuba diving (for ages 12 and up), walking up a waterfall. Feeding kids is a piece of cake, whether you choose kiddie buffets or a five-course dinner on the boardwalk. Suites are huge.

    More Great Caribbean Resorts
    5) Best Family Vacation Spots: US Virgin Islands

top family vacation spot: USVIThree distinct islands in "American's Caribbean" offer family-friendly resorts, a land-and-sea National Park, super snorkeling, colonial towns and forts, duty-free shops, and some novel ways to explore the underseas. Personal favorite activities: snorkeling and sea-trekking.
    6) Amelia Island, Florida
family vacation spots: FloridaStill relatively unknown, Amelia Island-- in northern Florida near Jacksonville-- has lovely beaches; a historic fort complete with actors who play period characters; a quaint town with wonderful old buildings; delicious sea-food; and two fine resorts, the Amelia Island Plantation and the Ritz-Carleton, both of which welcome kids.
    7) Whistler-Blackcomb Ski Resort (BC, Canada)
Family vacation Spots-- skiingWhistler-Blackcomb is a hip place for x-treme skiers and partiers: yet this dual resort welcomes thousands of families, with a Children's Adventure Park, a family-friendly zone of green runs, popular ski camps for kids, Ride Tribe for teens. Stay in an attractive townhome with full kitchen; hop on free shuttle buses to the slopes.
    8) Europe: Center Parcs Family Resorts
family vacation spots: Mexico Riviera MayaCenter Parcs has 13 family resorts in northern Europe: each with a huge domed area that houses a tropical pool (slides, waves, etc.), restaurants, shops, etc. Large cottages; country settings; many outdoors activities-- and affordable.
    9) Family Vacation Spot, Mexico: Riviera Maya
best family vacation spots-- MexicoA top family vacation spot, that combines beach fun with interesting (and even educational!) outings in the area. Just south of busy Cancun is a very different Mexico, with sleepy beach towns, beautiful coral reef, a unique eco-archeological theme park, lagoons for snorkeling, and Mayan ruins.
    10) Tuscany & Umbria
Top family vacation spots: italy hill townsKids are natural-born medievalists: they love knights and castles and tales of old-- and the hill towns of Tuscany and Umbria are super places to let their imaginations go. The old sections of these towns are picture-perfect, with centuries-old stone buildings and no plastic ticky-tack. If you're willing to try alternative-type lodgings, the adventure can even be affordable.
