Wildlife: Nettle Jellyfish
Film lovers brave enough to keep their eyes open during the terrifying jellyfish scene in 'Finding Nemo' will easily recall the invertebrate's painful stinging ability, and the nettle jellyfish is no exception. Yes, it is the nettle's defense mechanism that can cause serious injury or death to smaller prey. Humans, unless allergic, are pretty safe. The sea nettle is found in Atlantic estuaries and along the Pacific coast. You can see this one at the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California.
